History of the school

Mother Marie Louiss De Meester our foundress planted a seed in the field of education in Mulagumoodu of Kanyakumari District to empower women and the downtrodden. This grew into a plant at G.N. Road, Teynampet, Chennai, on14th

January 1926 with just three Visually impaired students.

It was upgraded into a high school in 1973 and in 1989 it became a Higher secondary school. This institution is supported by a grant in aid from the Government of India under Social Welfare Department. Secondary School. The main objective of the school is to impart holistic development among the students. Our children are trained from the age of three in different skills, starting from early intervention to higher secondary classes. They are given training in Daily living skills, Toilet Training, Sense Training personal grooming, Orientation, and Mobility. Social skills like communication skills in braille and computer operations are imparted.

Physical skills like sports, yoga asanas, and school band are practiced Vocational skills – cooking, clay modeling, sewing, weaving, vocal and instrumental music, dance, and dramatics are included in the curriculum Academic subjects like Languages, Maths, Science, History & Geography Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, and Environmental Science are taught according to the Tamilnadu Government Syllabus.

Our students are involved in activities like Literary meetings, Eco clubs Children’s Parliament, District & State level sports and field trips. Special days like Children’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Annual Day, and Sports Day are celebrated.

The school is proud to announce that the students won laurels, cash and certificate awards for cent percentage pass since 1979 at the State and District level.

To sum up, this outstanding performance and excellence in academics is due to the blessings of the Almighty, the dedicated services of Our former principals and the present principal, collaborative work of the teaching non teaching staff and the parents.
